Ten Tips for Having a Good Tribe Meeting

Each meeting should be carefully planned with children’s
involvement encouraged as much as possible.

•        To encourage promptness, begin your meetings on time
regardless of the number of tribe members present. Equally
important – end on time!

•        Keep business to a minimum during meetings. Any
business not of interest to the children should be saved for a
Parents’ Meeting.

•        Each parent and child should have the Talking Stick before
speaking

•        Parents and children should sit together during meetings

•        All children must remain in the area where the meeting is
being held. They should not be allowed to enter other rooms of
the house.

•        The Captain should insist upon quiet and order during tribe
meetings. Each parents is responsible for his or her child’s
behavior.

•        Should an absence become necessary, the Captain or Host
should be notified as soon as possible.

•        Projects, stories and activities should be kept within the
abilities of children
•        Serve only two simple items for refreshments

•        Wear your Adventure Guides’ Vests
