Hello Great Shimiji Nation,

The Papoose Tribe had a very fun time at the Pinewood Derby this month,
which had a lot of excitement for all.  But, first we began the month by going
to a very fun and educational animal wildlife show put on by the wonderful
folks a "The Nature of Wildworks".

The show was right here in Simi Valley, in packed auditorium, at Santa
Susanna Park.  The show included many types of wild animals, that still live
around us, such as hawks, an owl, a snake, a skunk, some not so wild
doggies, and a possum.  We also all learned that a possum has a very very
short memory, and can not even remember what happened to it from the
day before.  So, every day is really a new day for a possum!!

Laughing Panda (Josh) really liked seeing the skunk, and Sparkling 'lil
Butterfly (Ellie) had a nice visit with some of the puppy dogs after the show.

Then, it was time to start getting our pinewood derby cars ready for the
Federations awesome Pinewood Derby race.  Sparkling 'lil Butterfly (Ellie)
cheered on her sister Trinity, as they raced in their first Pinewood Derby.
And, Laughing Panda did a fabulous job with his cool orange car that won
1st Place in the Kindergarden class.  Not too bad for a 3 year old.  Laughing
Panda's luck continued, as he finished the day with the second fastest car in
the whole Pinewood Derby race.  Laughing Panda did a lot of great work on
his car the week leading up to the race, and that night he slept with his
Second Place trophy on his pillow!!!  A great job was done by all the
competitors.

Also, if you know any kids, ages 3 - 4 years old, that you think would really
enjoy this great Indian Guide program, and join in the fun that we have each
month, please let them know about the Papoose Tribe.  We always
welcome new members.

That's all for now,
Wise Panda, Pink Panda, & Laughing Panda

For Kids 3 & 4 year olds
and their Parents
If you are a parent or guardian of a child between the ages of 3 – 4 years old, and
together, then the Indian Guides “Papoose Tribe” may be just what you are looking
for.

The YMCA’s New Papoose Tribe is a group of Parents, just like you, and their Pre-
K children.  The whole group gets together once a month, in an informal setting,
and enjoys a variety of different outings.

We may all get together at the park, and do a craft one month, or all go out to see
a Children’s Show together the next month.

The program is also a great opportunity for both parents and children alike to
make new friends in their community.
